For this assignment, I wanted to portray a certain hierarchy of the sites that stood out to me during my trip. In order
Mood boards help determine an aesthetic, story, or feelings by providing colors and imagery to convey a creative project’s emotion. For this week’s project, we created a reverse mood board by taking an article of clothing we already own and developing a board for what we think the designers could have used in order to make that piece.
For my board, I decided to revolve it around a velvet yellow dress from Zara. I believe this dress would have been targeted towards a young urban generation. It looks like a piece you may find in a club late at night. To depict this I chose images of neon lights, teens partying, musical cassette tapes, concerts, and socializing. I also think the typical teen that might wear this would be rather rebellious as its short length goes against conservative standards.
I chose two time periods that this image reminded me of. One was the 70’s because of the color. The yellow reminds me of neutral colors popular in fashion and in interiors at the time. The silhouette also reminded me of a slip dress, which is why I decided to pick imagery from the 90’s. This type of dress had been in style back then. the 90’s are currently back in trend, which is why I believe this garment has been produced and is currently being marketed to this generation of young adults. It brings back nostalgic memories for people who were growing up back then and also comprise of the millennials that really drive the consumer market at the moment.
